Hi! My name is Ms. K and I am a kindergarten teacher at Our Lady's Academy. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Elementary Education. I received National Board certification in 2012. I have a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities. This will be my tenth year teaching and my fourth year at Our Lady’s Academy. I taught first grade for four years and this will be my sixth year in Kindergarten. Aside from teaching, I love traveling and I love learning! I especially love learning about different cultures and traditions. My teaching passions are early literacy and writing. Seeing the spark in a child's eyes when they learn to read and write their own sentences and stories is the greatest reward! Building a strong number sense is at the core of math foundation and helping children develop that number sense is so exciting. I believe that EVERY child can learn, but every child has their own unique way of learning just as they have their own unique personality. My daily mission will be to ensure that every child receives instruction in a way that is tailored to meet his/her needs. I believe that teaching is a team effort between the teacher and the parents. I am so excited to have this opportunity to teach your children and work with you to build a strong foundation and love of learning. My goal this year is for every one of my students to fall in love with learning! This year, we will travel through the world of Kindergarten and beyond. Together, we will “pack” your child’s mind full of knowledge and prepare them for their exciting educational journey!
I am super excited that this year, aside from sharing my classroom with my precious students, I also get to share it with one of my best friends. Ms. Amanda Normoyle will be our aide this year. She is a familiar face around the school and we are so happy she has officially joined our staff. Ms. Amanda is super creative and tons of fun. I can't wait to see where this learning journey leads us!
